Compton Park nestles on the warm southern slopes of Kit Hill. Kit Hill was once owned by Prince Charles, but was given to the people to celebrate the birth of Prince William. Kit Hill is a 400 acre Country Park towering above the beautiful Cornish and Devon countryside to the height of 1000 feet, giving views of both the north and south coasts of Cornwall and Devon from its summit.
Compton Park is a six-acre peaceful site affording panoramic views of both Cornwall and Devon: the views stretch from Plymouth and its Mew Stone in the east, way out to the Eddystone lighthouse some twelve miles out to sea, along the Cornish coast to the high ground above Looe, all the way down to the white peaks of the Cornish clay tips and the Eden Project to the west, and then back along the eastern slopes of Bodmin Moor and all the way up to Davidstow Moor and the North Cornish Coast.

Facilities
Compton Park is a peaceful, simple and unspoilt site, formerly the site of an old Cornish tin mine, with the old Cornish Steam Engine house now a single storey building, tastefully converted to provide showers, toilets, washing facilities and the Engine House Tea Rooms where hot home cooked meals are served from 8:30am to 6:00pm six days a week (closed on Mondays).
Local Area
The closest village to Compton Park is Kelly Bray, a five minute walk away, which has a local pub and a launderette. For larger shops, Compton Park sits over the top of Callington, an ancient Cornish town with its mural project and pleasant town centre, providing everything that people require: food shops, hardware stores, banking and old Cornish pubs. Callington is a twelve minute walk from Compton Park.
The site at Compton Park is a gently sloping grassed site, with access straight on to Kit Hill and its many beautiful walks and horse trails leading to the stunning Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and its many attractions, from National Trust stately homes to Old Cornish riverside ports and villages, and peaceful wooded walks.
A little further away is Plymouth - a twenty minute drive - with its historic Barbican and all the major retailers one would expect to find. To the south a twenty five minute drive takes you to the famous old fishing villages of Looe and Polperro. Further down the coast is Fowey, a very old Cornish port and Polruan, just across the water, and now you are in Eden Project country.
