North Pembrokeshire Coast - tour description
The cliff-top path (a national trail), high above the crashing waves of
the Atlantic, is fringed in spring with bluebells and pink sea-thrift.
Grey seals bask on the tidal rocks below the cliffs. Almost entirely within
the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the walk starts on the slopes of
the Preseli Hills (source of the Stonehenge bluestones) and
ends at the village of St Davids which huddles up to its Romanesque cathedral
and Bishops Palace. Along the way are steep, rocky summits, sandy
beaches and deep, wooded valleys; tiny harbours, quaint pubs and Welsh-speaking
villages; you may find Celtic crosses, prehistoric dolmens (megalithic
tombs), and even (if you are lucky) an original inscription in the mysterious
Ogham script. The Pembrokeshire coast has been proposed as a World Heritage
Site.
Our accommodations in Pembrokeshire have received especial praise from
previous customers on account of the beautiful settings, the warm welcome
offered, and the historic character of many of the buildings.
Some reports from previous customers on this tour
Every accommodation was good, especially [at Newport (Pembs) and
at St David's] ... [We also liked the] very good descriptions of the path...beautiful
routes...luggage transport.
Ms E Krusemann and Mr H Pless.
... the wide view[s] to both the sea and the land ... everything
was so well organised. Nothing went wrong.
M Verhulst and A Hoencamp.
[The accommodations] were all perfect. [We
particularly liked] the landscape, the quietness, the hospitality,
organisation and route information.
Mr van der Aa and Mrs van Rosmalen.
The best aspect was the wonderful landscape and the exactly
prepared descriptions of the trip.
Mrs A Bleichert.
I found this a wonderful trip, very well organised.
Ms A de Meester.
Just wanted you to know that we had an outstanding time in
Pembrokeshire... The weather was more than we could have hoped
for. We never needed our raingear, just enough sun to get terrific
hiker's tans and enough cloudy time [to] make it very comfortable
to scramble up and down hills for six to seven hours a day. ...
Every place we stayed was terrific and the people were friendly
and helpful. I have run out of superlatives. We would be happy
to act as references for anyone else who is interested. Thanks
for your help!
J. Eyes.
'...my son and I had a splendid holiday and really
enjoyed it.' Mr J.Prijt.
