Surfside Chalet
Gwithian - St. Ives Bay
A traditional 1960’s wooden chalet nestling in the Gwithian dunes, Surfside has two bedrooms, a bathroom/WC and open-plan kitchen and living area. Surfside has its own unique style and it sleeps six comfortably (small double and bunks in second bedroom) and is equipped with most modern conveniences.
The chalet site is sheltered from much of the wind by dunes which overlook three miles of sandy beach forming part of St Ives Bay. The beach runs from Godrevy Lighthouse in the East (made famous by Virginia Woolfe’s novel “To the Lighthouse”) all the way to the wild bird haven of the Hayle estuary in the West. Local Area
A fifteen minute walk through the dunes brings you to Gwithian beach, one of West Cornwall’s best surfing beaches. With lifeguards and surf school it’s a great place to brave the sea for accomplished surfers and beginners alike. The large wide beaches and rock pools make it a safe place for children and the more adventurous might like to jump in the “sheep dip”, a naturally occurring deep rock pool. The dunes offer hundreds of secluded pockets of sheltered sand where you can while away the hours without ever seeing another soul.
Hide
Situated just over a mile from the small town of Hayle, the location is ideal for a family holiday. The chalet site is secluded with open grassy areas for children to play safely within the site. Up on the dunes overlooking the chalets, children (and occasionally adults) can be found digging holes or sliding down on tea trays and sledges. Its relaxed communal feel is a welcome alternative to some of the more crowded caravan parks elsewhere in Cornwall. There is a small friendly bar on the site which opens most evenings.
Within easy striking distance of St Ives and the countless other opportunities that Cornwall offers, Three Shades of Blue Chalets provide comfortable and attractive accommodation from which to explore the surroundings. Whether it’s kite surfing, long walks along the coastal paths or visiting St Michael’s Mount, West Cornwall offers a remarkable variety of activities and attractions.
