Educational Visits

When you have the responsibility for arranging a school outing you need to feel confident about your choice of venue.
Confidence springs from knowledge, and at Porfell Wildlife Park and Sanctuary can meet your needs in two ways:
First, a Trail Guide Pack. This tells you about the history of Porfell, its dedication and aims. It also contains information on core subjects, homes and habitats, environmental issues and woodland. Further, it includes a supply of photocopy-ready illustrated work-sheets including a park plan. So you have the benefit of knowing exactly what is here, you can easily plan the day, and you can very quickly prepare student resource packs. Animals talks, picture shows

Secondly, staff members directly invloved with the visit are welcome to arrange a free pre-visit. This will give your staff an opportunity to become familiarised with the layout and facilities, enabling them to produce a schedule for their visit.

Our objective is to ensure that staff as well as pupils are enriched by a visit to Porfell. We aim to achieve a balance between education, conservation and entertainment, and to help everyone enjoy the wonders of life thorugh observation, stimulation and discovery.

Over a period of several years we've collected many different animals, then in 1989 we decided to open to the public as a small farm Park. Since those early days, our regular visitors have seen dramatic changes with each year, the addition of more enclosures, animals and facilities, making Porfell a much-acclaimed Wildlife Park and Sanctuary.

Developing the park within our beautiful Cornish countryside has required careful planning, as has the design and build of enclosures taking into consideration all the individual needs of many species of animals in our care.

While building continues - we will always be making changes and improvements - now we are able to provide even better material for educational visits, with the introduction of this Teacher's Pack. The same care and imagination has gone into developing our unique informative and interactive work sheets, linking to a system of detailed animal descriptions to be found throughout the Park. We hope you and your group enjoy your visit and find it rewarding.
