Location - St Ives
The glorious town of St Ives is just a few minutes away from the Trowan by car or can be easily reached by footpath.
Whilst seeking to preserve the traditional enmity between the Manor of Trowan and the town of St Ives it would be churlish not to acknowledge that in terms of both cultural pursuits and beaches the town has a huge amount to offer including some of the best beaches in the world; art in every form from the Tate Gallery (which I believe also has a branch in London!) to the Barbara Hepworth Workshop as well as the intricate streets; restaurants and shops which make St Ives a truly beautiful and cosmopolitan town.

About Trowan
Trowan Farm is at the centre of what remains of the ancient Manor of Trowan – a small hamlet that predates St Ives by many hundred of years and which in its heyday of the mid eighteen hundreds provided a home for upwards of one hundred people.
By the end of the last century the manor had shrunk to almost nothing – the few remaining cottages having been assimilated into a single farm run from the “Hain House”, the main house on the site which was built by the famous St Ives Shipping firm in 1909 and which still dominates the site today.
Trowan has been fully restored. The various outbuildings and ruined former cottages which are now rebuilt in their former glory.

This ambitious programme is now complete and the result is a very private complex of twelve cottages situated in the centre of extensive meadow land on the cliff tops to the West of St Ives.
From the very start of the project the aim was to create a sustainable and attractive setting whilst seeking to preserve ancient skills of stone working and wood working.
The result has exceeded our expectations and the site offers private parking at the entrance (the main site is car free)as well as access to the extensive network of local paths and fields.
In keeping with the mood of the times, all the buildings on the site have very high standards of insulations and glazing, exceeding the national requirement and the complex of a whole benefits from rainwater harvesting and storage and an on site recycling facility – strangely it is always the bottle bank section that fills up quickest!
