! Dinghy Sailing - Keelboat Sailing - Traditional Sailing - Powerboat Courses - Young Sailor's Courses Individual or Group Tuition - Day Cruises - Getaway Breaks - Corporate and Group Activities Established in the 1970's, Mylor Sailing School is situated at the popular base of Mylor Yacht Harbour in South Cornwall, four miles from the resort of Falmouth, and eight miles from the cathedral city of Truro. Mylor Harbour is a dedicated yachting centre supporting a number of marine related businesses along with a restaurant and holiday cottages. Our sailing area is the Fal Estuary, sheltered from the prevailing south westerly winds and surrounded by National Trust land and magnificent coastal scenery. One of the largest natural harbours in the world, it provides a perfect setting in which to learn to sail. We are a small independent Sailing School, and our aim is to give you a friendly and personal service. We will do our best to be as flexible as possible to suit your needs. We can advise regarding all types of good local accommodation, and give you information on local restuarants, pubs and the many other attractions to help you and your family enjoy your stay in Cornwall. Start sailing and make new friends on one of our fun Holiday Courses for adults or young sailors.... ....or, for that personal touch, take advantage of maximum "hands on" experience with individual instruction.... ....Something for Mum, Dad & the kids with one of our specially tailored Family Packages.... ....Only a few days to spare? Start sailing, brush up your skills, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery on one of our Get-Away Breaks.... "Swallows & Amazons" - kids, hoist the "Jolly Roger" and set off on a day sail to explore unknown shores.... Falmouth is home to the world's last fleet of oyster dredging boats working under sail alone. During the winter months fishermen harvest the natural oyster beds of the river Fal using techniques unchanged over two centuries. During the summer the Working Boats provide a true spectacle racing in the Carrick Roads, setting vast areas of sail with brightly coloured topsails. At Mylor Sailing School, we would like to pass on our knowledge and experience of gaff rigged boats so others can enjoy the experience of sailing these traditional craft. We regularly race our boats, and spend time every winter on the oyster fishery. We will tailor any course to suit your own needs, from learn to sail & familiarisation courses, to family day cruises and winter trips out on the oyster fishery - the choice is yours....
