Falmouth Art Gallery
Shop and study facilities

The Gallery has a purpose designed shop/reception area immediately inside the main gallery. This has on sale postcards of the pictures in the Town's collection, catalogues and posters of previous exhibitions as well as general art postcards and greetings cards, posters and art books. Falmouth Art Gallery holds the Town's collection of over 100 paintings and 250 works on paper.

Even with the expanded Galleries it is not possible to show all the works in the collection at once. If visitors wish to see works that are not on display they can make an appointment with either the Curator or Assistant Curator.

They will be able to study the collection in the Galleries new study room. Books on artists in the collection as well as slides are available to view.

Most exhibitions will be accompanied by an artist's talk or lecture and practical workshops will be arranged for craft exhibitions. Please visit the Gallery's main website www.falmouthartgallery.com for full details.

The temporary exhibition Galleries has a gabled roof where skylights bringing natural light into the exhibiting space.

The size of the galleries has been increased by 30% providing a much bigger floor area. The Galleries include 4 new high security inbuilt display cabinets for showing fragile and valuable works of art.

The lift extension built to the right hand side of the Municipal Buildings provides two new access points into the Galleries, one via the lift from Webber Street, the other from the rear of the building half way up Webber Lane straight into an entrance foyer at Gallery level.

The lift extension now makes it possible for people in wheelchairs, with walking difficulties or who have pushchairs to make use of the facilities at Falmouth Art Gallery.

The pavement is lowered on Webber Street which allowed a continuous ramp between the public lavatories and the end of the Library building from the curb to the door of the lift in the new extension. On entering the lift press button marked 2 and visitors will come out at Gallery level. Wheelchair users have to either reverse in or out of the lift as it only holds one chair at a time.

Once at Gallery level visitors will see the entrance into the galleries on the right, the window into the shop and a disabled/unisex toilet for public use on the left.
