Local Area
St. Ives is one of the most famous holiday towns in Cornwall. The town is centered around the beautiful harbour nestling between fabulous beaches and endless mazes of cobbled streets. Fishing was once the dominant force and in the mid nineteenth century there were 400 boats involved in pilchard fishing alone. Today fishing boats still moor alongside the granite piers with their catch being sent around the world earning an enviable reputation for its quality and variety in some of the finest restaurants.
St Ives is also famous for it’s art scene and boasts many galleries, studios and craft shops. Since the nineteenth century the town has attracted many artists both professional and amateur, many citing the ‘light’ as being the main pull to the area.
Take the opportunity to travel into St Ives by train for a most spectacular journey where you can enjoy a view across to Godrevy Lighthouse immortalized by the novelist Virginia Woolfe and marvel at the sight of this stunning harbour town sitting majestically upon it’s emerald waters.
Whether your visit is to relax or invigorate, escape or inspire... St. Ives will not disappoint.
