The Chalet
If you dream of sand-dunes and salty air, you'll love a holiday in Pendarves. Sitting atop a sand dune, Pendarves has great views of Carbis Bay with it's beautiful beaches of golden sand, and St. Ives. For the 2012 season, we've made the chalet more comfortable and decorated it to really put you in a relaxed, sea-sidey mood right from the start of your holiday. We still aim to provide great value family holidays.
The chalet sleeps 4 in two bedrooms (plus sofa-bed), one double with great sea views, and one with full sized single beds. The second bedroom is designed to appeal to children, but is also suitable for teenagers or adults.
The comfortable sitting room has a two-seater sofa-bed, armchairs, new TV with integral DVD, and yet more sea views. The kitchen-diner has a folding table, full sized cooker, microwave and fridge. It is newly equipped with good quality crockery and equipment, to enable keen cooks to make the best of all the fantastic fresh local ingredients. The good sized bath-room has a full sized sink and a shower/mini-bath. Come to Pendarves in beautiful West Cornwall, unwind and enjoy one of the most relaxing beach holidays you're ever likely to have.

The Area
![]() The beach and dunes | ![]() Hayle beach | ![]() Godrevy light-house |
Hayle is best known for its three mile beaches of golden sand. The beach extends from Hayle to Godrevy Lighthouse, which sits on a island just off the beach and inspired Virginia Woolf to write her novel To The Lighthouse.
Hayle Beach is fantastic for the family and is patrolled by life guards during the summer. Not only is it good for swimming and sunbathing but it also popular for surfing , body-boarding and wind-surfing, with a choice of local surf schools.
If you should tire of the beach. there is plenty else to do. St.Ives is only a few miles away, with its fantastic restaurants, the Tate St. Ives, the Barbara Hepworth gallery and museum and great shops. You can get there by bus from a stop just outside the chalet park, or try the train journey from St. Erth, one of the most picturesque in the country. You're also within a short drive of the breath-taking "pre-historic" landscape around Zennor. Penzance and Marazion (opposite beautiful St. Michael's Mount) are also close and well worth a visit.
Even closer to Hayle, and within view of the chalet you can enjoy Hayle's estuary, with its muddy tidal flats that are a magnet to an interesting variety of birds and are heavily frequented by bird watchers.
Hayle itself is a world heritage site, famed for it's industrial heritage, based on tin-mining and engineering.
If you love good food and drink, you're in for a treat. Cornwall is enjoying a foodie renaissance and there are lots of good restaurants, bars, beach cafes and pubs for you to choose from. Try the local pub The Bucket of Blood for a refreshing cornish pint, and don't forget to buy some fish fresh from the sea while you're here!
