Situated at the end of a private lane, high on Bodmin Moor, Sandy Barn Cottages consist of four attractive barn conversions which together form a secluded courtyard of fine old granite buildings. The cottages now provide a tranquil and comfortable haven for exploring North Cornwall in all weathers. And with four-legged guests especially welcome, there are also an abundance of walks on the doorstep.
Retaining much of their original charm, the cottages have been tastefully furnished with many character features, including cosy wood-burning stoves, slate floors and beamed ceilings. With duck down and feather duvets, gloriously comfortable beds and oodles of hot water from the cottages’ own heating systems, a comfortable and relaxing stay is most definitely on the cards. And with each property also having its own private sitting out area and unspoilt views over the neighbouring fields, you’re guaranteed to be getting away from it all.
The owners, Julie and Ben Fairman, whose family have farmed on the moor for over 30 years, live in the fourth cottage. They are on hand each day to help with any questions or requirements you may have, and Julie always supplies a scrumptious Cream Tea for your arrival!

Nestling in the corner of the courtyard, and covered in Virginia Creeper and Fuchsia bushes, High View is the smallest of the four 200 year-old former farm buildings. With its canopied porch and sun-trap seating area, High View is not over-looked and allows guests to sit back and relax inside or out. Inside, the traditional slate floored Living Room has a large wood-burning stove providing a cosy excuse for opening a bottle of wine and settling down in front of the flickering flames. The Kitchen is compact but well equipped, and the sky-light window enables guests to spot a whole collection of native birds.
With double doors opening onto a secluded private courtyard, there is also a stone built BBQ for enjoying lazy evenings watching the sun set over the fields.
Upstairs, the Double Bedroom is dual aspect with views towards the North Cornish Coast to the rear. With an extra large shower, the Bathroom has also been cleverly designed to provide as much space as possible.
